Hemitragus jemlahicus
Best: Apr — AugTechnical high-altitude hunting in the Southern Alps. Big bulls above the treeline — physically demanding, genuinely wild, one of the most rewarding hunts in the Southern Hemisphere.
Rupicapra rupicapra
Best: Apr — SepNew Zealand's most underrated hunt. Agile, wary, found in serious alpine terrain. The hunters who've done it rarely stop at one. Often combined with tahr for a full high-country week.
Dama dama
Rut: Mar — MayOutstanding palmated antlers with strong trophy quality across South Island private properties. Often added to a red stag hunt as a second species — great value between main stalks.
